Why We're Building K-Beauty for the Beach
Skincare for life by the water.
August 2026 / JEJU GLOW Journal

In this note
THE QUESTION
Go to a Korean beach in August and you'll notice something.
People are covered. Long sleeves in the middle of summer. Parasols open at the water's edge. Rash guards worn by people who have no intention of surfing.
To a lot of visitors, it can look like a contradiction.
Why come to the beach if you're going to cover up?
But it isn't a contradiction.
In Korea, protecting skin from the sun has long been part of skincare. It's part of a broader way of thinking about skin that also sits at the heart of K-Beauty.
K-Beauty helped change the way the world thinks about skincare. Hydration. Ingredients. Texture.
The idea that caring for your skin is something you do consistently, not something you reach for only when there's a problem. That thinking travelled everywhere.
But below the jawline, the story looks different. Especially at the beach, body care has remained largely functional.
Sunscreen, and whatever comes after.
We kept wondering what would happen if the thinking behind Korean skincare extended beyond the face and into the way we care for our bodies by the water. That left us with a question we couldn't put down:
What if K-Beauty went to the beach?
THE VERSION WE'RE AFTER
Beach beauty has a familiar language.
Coconut. Tropical sweetness. Wet, glossy skin.
We wanted something different.
Cooler. Greener. Drier.
More like leaves, petals, skin, and coastal air than something sweet. And the glow we're interested in isn't about spending more time in the sun.
Glow that comes after the sun, not from it.
WHERE WE SIT
Sunscreen first. Always.
Beach Glow Oil isn't here to replace it.
But what we want to build is bigger than one oil.
We're building toward a complete beach ritual — the care that comes before the water, and the care that comes after it. Over time, that will grow into a full line.
We're taking the thoughtfulness and ritual of Korean skincare beyond the face and bringing it to the beach. Skincare for life by the water.
That's what K-Beauty for the Beach means to us.
Beach Glow Oil is where we're starting.
WHY JEJU
Jeju is a volcanic island off the southern coast of South Korea. Black rock. Ocean in every direction. Strong wind. A landscape shaped as much by the sea as by the land.
It's also where our story begins.
At the center of that story is camellia. With a long history in Korean beauty, it felt like a natural place for us to begin.
The rest, we'll get to.
WHAT WE MADE
We're starting with one product.
Beach Glow Oil — a hydrating dry body oil.
It's designed to absorb quickly rather than sit heavily on the skin, with a finish that feels more like skincare than a traditional beach oil.
Formula, fragrance, and bottle — all developed in Korea. The scent was created with a Korean perfumer, and the bottle was made here too.
We're not launching a range just to look like a complete brand. We'd rather get one thing right and be able to explain every decision inside it.
Then we'll build from there.
WHAT THIS JOURNAL IS FOR
Every week, one of these.
Some weeks it'll be an ingredient — why camellia, where it comes from, and why we chose it. Some weeks it'll be fragrance, formulation, packaging, Jeju, or Korean beauty culture.
And some weeks it'll be us — two founders building this from the ground up, including the parts that didn't work.
We're not going to answer "What if K-Beauty went to the beach?" all at once. We'll answer it one week at a time.
